Welcome to the resource for information regarding Electromagnetic Compatibility Requirements for Ford Motor Company

Design Consulting for EMC

Components and subsystems are expected to meet all applicable Ford EMC requirements.  Although good design practices are available for download at this site, successful implementation of these practices requires relevant expertise by the design engineer or assistance from a experienced EMC engineering professional.  Failure to recognized this at the initial phase of the product design often leads to non-compliance to one or more EMC requirements.  Attempts to mitigate these non-compliances often drives cost into the product and/or causes delays in product delivery.  Experience has shown that these issues are most likely to occur with new suppliers with little or no OEM automotive electronics design.

Although EMC design practices are available for download from this site, Ford Motor Company does not provide EMC design services to its suppliers.  However EMC design expertise is available from a number of independent consultants.  The supplier is encouraged to use these services to support the overall product design and/or EMC testing.  When selecting EMC consulting services, great care should be taken to assure the "consultant" has demonstrated experience in automotive electronics applications.   Although Ford Motor Company does not guarantee the performance of any consulting services, the following company has demonstrated expertise in EMC design for automotive applications:
